Abstract

Finding a remedy to the environmental waste water problem we studied elimination of monovalent cationic dye like Methylene blue from aqueous solutions by Carboxymethyl Cellulose /Acrylamide (CMC/AAm) hydrogel. CMC/AAm made hydrogels were prepared at 25 kGy gamma radiation dose from Co-60 source. Methylene blue dye removal was examined by this hydrogel for kinetics, isotherm and thermodynamic considerations. The concentration effect of MB dye on our prepared hydrogel was examined by fitting several isotherm model like Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, Dubinin–Radushkevich (D-R) and Kiselev. It was established that Kiselev isotherm model was top fit, followed by Langmuir. The temperature effect on adsorption by the hydrogels was considered for thermodynamic parameters. -15.9305 kJ/mol and 61.39406 J/ molK, were obtained for, H°, and S°, in the adsorption processes respectively. The (-) ve values of ∆G° assured system’s viability and the spontaneous nature, thus the system is required no energy input from outside
